Mockingjay and Thirteen Reasons Why

Mockingjay: Suzanne Collins

Okay. I absolutely love the Hunger Games series. Suzanne Collins is a great writer and I couldn’t get enough of her. However, this book seemed to drag on and on for me. I wasn’t as in love with it as The Hunger Games or Catching Fire. Those two i devoured in about 3 days. This book took me about a week. I just couldn’t get into it. I mean the story was great but I felt like it was just being stretched out and then it had a really unsatisfying abrupt ending.

Thirteen Reasons Why: Jay Asher

This book wasn’t originally on my summer reading list but my sister kept shoving it in my face to read so I did. I started it yesterday after finishing up Mockingjay and OH MY GOSH. I couldn’t put it down. It was sooo good. It’s so emotional and personal and every person who’s ever contemplated ending their own life should read this. It mirrors every emotion felt and the repercussions that come out of a decision like that. WHAT A GREAT book. I highly recommend it to anyone whois literate.

The Hunger Games;

So I absolutely loved her writing style. Very conversational and yet hoarded with suspence. I seriously could not wait to see what would happen in the next chapter. i finished the book in a day. But upon rading the ending…i was disappointed. This book was written so well and it was really good but the last thing I want is another “crossed-lovers” tale. I was totally with Katniss all the way through every death in the Games and I could feel what she was going through.

But I really don’t want to read the second one if it is just another love story.
